Please check out the Events & Activities page for information on a few upcoming Garden Events. The Birch Garden will have a booth at the Broomfield Habitat Fair on Saturday, March 31 as well as at the Frank Shorter Race4Kids on Sunday, April 15. If you’re interested in helping out with either please let us know.
View the 2012 Work Day schedule here.Workdays are scheduled on the third Saturday of each month, April through September.
All gardeners are asked to donate four hours each month to the garden. So, please plan to spend two additional hours at the garden each month helping with the Donation Garden plots. Garden tasks will be posted on the bulletin board at the garden beginning in April, 2012. Please email email@example.com with questions.
Thanks to everyone who came out for our first work day of the season. We are so excited to have so many enthusiastic gardeners this year!
Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone! Our first work day of the season will be this Saturday, March 17 beginning at 10 am. We’ll start the day with a quick meeting for gardeners after which we’ll get into the business of tilling and prepping the garden for the season. Please plan to join us if you’ve signed up for an individual plot this year (and if you can’t make it please let us know as we will be scheduling a follow up meeting for anyone who can’t come Saturday) but all are very welcome.
We will have two tillers on hand for the workday so if you’d like to till your plot for the season this is a great opportunity to do so. If you’re not able to make it but would like your garden tilled, please let us know.
And finally, since it will be too early in the day for green beer I’m going to try to make Irish soda bread to share. Others are welcome to bring an Irish (or not!) treat to share – but there’s absolutely no obligation.
See you Saturday!
Just a reminder that our 2010 Birch Garden Kick Off Meeting is this Saturday, February 25 beginning at 9:30 AM. We’ll meet in the Eisenhower Room at the Mamie Dowd Eisenhower Library. If you’re unable to attend but are interested in a plot at the garden for the 2012 season please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
See you Saturday!
Happy New Year Birch Gardeners!
Believe it or not garden season will be here soon and we’ve just started plans for the 2012 season. We’re hoping for a bit of a facelift at the garden in 2012 and want this to be the best season yet!
To get things started a few updates from the garden committee.
First off, we’re sad to say goodbye to the garden’s first coordinator and fierce advocate, Kierston Howard. Kierston, Sam and Connor recently moved from Broomfield. A giant THANK YOU to each of them for all of their hard work these last three years. We’ll miss you all!
We’re pleased to welcome Linda Botehlo, who has been gardening with us for two years, to the garden committee. Thank you, Linda for volunteering more time to this great project.
And there’s plenty of work to be done this year as we look to make improvements, increase our community outreach and continue to pursue the garden’s goals. So, please let us know if you’re interesting in providing additional assistance.
Finally, mark your calendars. We will be having our Garden Kick Off meeting on Saturday, February 25. Although time and location are TBD we hope everyone’s able to join us as we get the 2012 season off to a great start!
Hope the new year’s off to a FANTASTIC start for everyone! Drop us a note and let us know how it’s going.
Good morning Gardeners!
The Birch Community Garden is sponsoring a field trip/tour of Botanical Interests Seed Company in Broomfield on Monday, October 24. We’ve schedule the tour to begin around 3:30 pm which means those interested in attending should plan to arrive around 3:15 pm. As we do need to confirm the final count to Botanical Interests in advance of our tour please let us know if you plan to join us. All are welcome.
Email us at email@example.com if you’re interested in joining the tour.
A great big thank you to Amy Artmann and Michele Schiavone for organizing two great field trips for Cross of Christ pre-school to the garden this week. The kids stayed busy picking MANY pounds of veggies from the garden and had a great time too! We certainly appreciate the help too! If you know of any other kids groups who might be interested in participating this year or next just drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Hi Birch Gardeners! Hope you can join us for the last workday of the season on Saturday, September 24 beginning at 9 am. We’ll be starting garden clean up, harvesting and also talking about what worked and what didn’t this year. We really hope to see you all then!
In the meantime there’s lots to be harvested there so if you’re over there and have a few extra minutes please feel free to harvest what you find and drop at Silvercrest or FISH. Email us if you need the details for drop offs!
Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!
Hi Birch Gardeners – just a reminder that our rescheduled work day from last weekend will be tomorrow morning starting around 8:30 am. There are lots of weeds to be pulled and veggies to be harvested so hopefully you can join us! See you then!
